What is the newest mineral bath near Plovdiv?

The winter season is perfect for making the most of spa treatments and the positive properties of mineral water. There is nothing better than relaxing in a warm pool and letting the spa treatment do its magic.
And since in a previous article we told you about the newest and most luxurious hotel in Narechenski bani, today we offer an alternative if you don’t want to spend too much money, but still want to make the most of the spa opportunities around Plovdiv.
We take you to the town of Hisarya, which is located only about 20 minutes from the City under the Hills and offers a pretty good alternative for day spa treatments in the recently renovated “Momina banya”.

After a large-scale renovation that started more than 3 years ago, the renovated municipal building and the royal bathhouse attached to it have been completely transformed and are now welcoming guests.
The mineral water from the Momina Banya spring is a symbol of balneotherapy in Hisarya – it was here in 1882 that the first chemical analysis of mineral water in Bulgaria was carried out, marking the beginning of organized medical baths in the resort. At that time, the government of Eastern Rumelia also adopted the first regulations for the operation of the Hisarya baths.

The spring is one of the most famous in the resort and is distinguished by the highest radon content among the local springs, which makes it particularly suitable for the treatment of kidney‑urological diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The water is alkaline, hydrocarbonate‑sodium and fluoride, colorless and odorless, with a pleasant taste and a temperature of about 41–46 °C according to various hydrogeological studies.

The prices are extremely affordable and you can combine them with a short walk in the town or a delicious lunch in one of the restaurants we recommend.
