What is the newest water attraction under the hills this summer?

All citizens and tourists under the hills now have a new reason for an evening walk – and it is not just beautiful, but downright cinematic.

The singing fountains in Tsar Simeon’s Garden are back after renovation, but this time with an impressive novelty: a water wall that turns the space above the lake into an open-air cinema. The facility, known as the “water rainbow”, reaches 30 meters wide and 15 meters high, and the fine water jets create an ethereal screen of mist on which light, images and video come to life.

The first major production on the new water screen is the show “Disney: Summer of Stories”, in which beloved Disney and Pixar characters literally jump out of the water through a combination of music, projections and light effects. Thus, the well-known fountains become the stage for a modern urban spectacle – something between a cinema, a concert and an open-air fairy tale.

The best view of the new visual show is from the Ivan Vazov National Library building, from where the projections are best perceived. The show takes place every Saturday until the end of July at 9:30 p.m., giving Plovdiv residents and guests of the city a chance to see how an iconic location is reborn with a new technological vision.

The classic Singing Fountains continue to operate in their familiar rhythm, but the new water wall adds another layer to the experience – more modern, more effective and definitely more spectacular, and we recommend that you grab a drink, mosquito spray and go on time so as not to miss the newest attraction under the hills.
