Food Shop: the delicious side of takeaway food

It all started with a small grocery store on the side of the road between the village of Kalekovets and the Stryama industrial zone more than 20 years ago. Many of the workers in the zone often stopped by to pick up ready-made salads or some products to eat on their lunch break, but gradually they asked themselves “why isn’t there a place where we can eat freshly prepared meals”. Thus, the idea for Food Shop was born among the owners – a place where you can get hot, homemade food, even when you’re on the go, and which combines the couple’s flair for commerce and delicious dishes.

The first location opened in 2016, and today there are already five Food Shop locations – in Kalekovets, Graf Ignatievo, at two addresses on Brezovsko Shosse and on Nikola Vaptsarov Blvd. The largest Food Shop is currently under construction and will open its doors very soon.
The menu remains true to the Bulgarian taste – salads, soups, cooked dishes, meatballs and “retro” kebabs, prepared according to traditional recipes and with the taste we are used to from childhood and the grill at village fairs. Some of the locations also have small dining rooms, but most customers choose the food in a box – convenient, tasty and affordable.

The idea started as a family initiative, but today it is growing more and more and proving to us that when you put your heart into what you do, people feel it – and they come back again and again.

Food Shop is an example that big things sometimes start from small things – from a small shop, from a simple question, and from a shared love for Bulgarian cuisine.
