The iconic building was constructed in the late 1950s, originally as the House of Labour of the General Trade Union under the name Stefan Kiradzhiev. After the political changes in 1989, it continued to serve as an important center for public and cultural events, and in 1998 it was officially granted for the needs of Plovdiv’s cultural scene.
Today, the House of Culture proudly bears the name of the legendary opera singer Boris Christoff, and was officially reopened after extensive reconstruction in 2013. It hosts theatre and opera performances, concerts, festivals, charity initiatives and a wide range of cultural events that bring together audiences of all ages.
