Hotel Hello Plovdiv – “The White Hotel” under the hills

In the heart of Plovdiv, just steps from the International Fair and a pleasant walk from Kapana and the Old Town, rises one of the most interesting new buildings in the city – Hotel Hello Plovdiv. Since its appearance in 2024, it has not only fit into the urban environment, but has begun to change it.

The hotel quickly earned the nickname “The White Hotel”, which comes from both its clean vision and the strong impact it has on connoisseurs of contemporary architecture. It is no coincidence that it is the first and currently the only Plovdiv hotel nominated for the most prestigious European awards for contemporary architecture – Mies van der Rohe. This is a recognition that puts it on the map not only of the city, but also of Europe. The project for the transformation of the former Nord Hotel is the work of architects Alexander Yonchev and Monika Stoykova from Studio Simple Architecture. Instead of erasing the past, they chose to work with it, preserving the geometry of the building, but also giving it a completely new, contemporary look.

Inside, the hotel continues the same line with a bright and monochrome interior, in which the contrasts do not come from colors, but from textures. The surfaces vary from smooth to highly embossed, creating a sense of depth and movement. The inspiration comes from one of the most characteristic elements of Plovdiv – the syenite stone that formed the hills. This connection with the local geology is interpreted in a modern way, without literalism, but with a clear sense of place.

Particularly impressive is the use of traditional mortar plaster – a material with roots dating back to the Roman and Byzantine eras. It is present both in the floors and in some of the furniture, turning the interior into a natural bridge between past and present.

The overall symbiosis is extremely highly appreciated and has so far made the hotel a winner of 6 awards in the field of architecture and design.

Hello Plovdiv is not just beautiful, it is also designed to be as comfortable as possible for the way people travel today. The hotel offers quick and easy self-check-in, which eliminates unnecessary waiting and gives guests freedom from the very first moment.

The rooms are intelligent and the technologies in them are integrated in such a way as to facilitate, not burden. Everything is subordinated to comfort and a sense of lightness – from the lighting to the functionality of the space.

Behind the minimalist aesthetic is a clearly expressed philosophy, the focus of which is attention to detail and a personal approach to each guest. The hotel team works with the idea that the stay should be tailored to specific needs, regardless of whether it is a business trip, a short city break or a longer exploration of Plovdiv.

Investors Velislava and Hristo Gyulevi are well-known names in the City under the Hills. They are behind established and repeatedly awarded projects such as Hostel Old Plovdiv and Hotel Evmolpia in the Old Town. With Hello Plovdiv they take the next step, this time towards contemporary architecture and a new generation of city hotels.

Hotel Hello Plovdiv is an example of how a building can tell a story, respect the context and at the same time look forward, completely in sync with the spirit of the times.
